We were involved from the start and worked to ensure that the planning process was as smooth as possible with care and consideration given the nature of the area, resulting a land-led scheme which respects both context and place.
Trinity Homes were awarded the contracted and they demonstrated their determination to build a beautiful development local people would love.
The site was previously occupied by a 1960’s built older people’s scheme which was no longer fit for purpose.
The picturesque High Street contains tea rooms, a convenience store and post office, a public house, an antiques shop, a florist and a hairdressers. Burwash is located within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
This stunning setting was deserving of an equally beautiful and sympathetic development and so PSW, Optivo and the wider project team worked closely with Rother District Council and Burwash Parish Council to create homes fitting for the area. Features of the development included handmade tiles which blend with the surrounding area.
A key part of building beautiful schemes is reflecting the local vernacular and using local materials. The scheme incorporates English Red and Sussex Blue Grey bricks that are characteristic of homes in the village. The proportions and glazing patterns of windows reflect those in the terrace opposite.
