Each member of the team lent their hand to each role throughout the morning which included serving teas and coffees, cooking eggs, bacon, sausages, beans and mushrooms as well as washing up and mopping the floor, etc.
The team worked like a well-oiled machine under the leadership of Tracie and with everyone working to their strengths. It must be said that our Senior Mechanical Engineer, Anzar exceeded expectations and blew everyone away with his cooking skills and natural aptitude for frying eggs to order. Whether it be sunny side up, over easy or over medium, Anzar had it covered.
This year our Director David Brown was on hand to take care of the sausages and toast. The facility manager said that in all her years of running the kitchen, she had never seen sausages cooked in such an efficient way!
As always the day started at 5am in Whitechapel, East London and there was no rest until 12.30pm by which time everyone had been fed and the kitchen was gleaming.
The staff and volunteers at the Whitechapel Mission provide an invaluable service for what is an overwhelming demand. They have been serving the homeless and marginalised for 144 years – including a day centre, skills training and career advice, activity programmes and specialist support for complex needs. If you are interested in learning more about what the Mission does you can find everything you need on their website.
PSW have pledged to return next Christmas which is the Missions busiest time of year.
We regularly seek client feedback as part of our Quality Management procedures and here are some recent comments.
